From October all new build homes will have protective devises fitted to baths that limit the temperature of hot water.
Announcing the new policy, housing minister Iain Wright said that the new devises would prevent scalding accidents. Wright added: 鈥淲ater plays an important role in making homes more sustainable, and the measures we have announced will help make new homes even greener as part of our commitment to zero carbon homes from 2016.鈥
The new measures were included in the amendments to Part G of the building regulations, which covers sanitation, hot water safety and water efficiency.
The amendments will also see a water efficiency standard of 125 litres per person, per day for new homes, and the setting out of where greywater and harvested rainwater can be used safely.
