Builders working in the forward-thinking London Borough of Barnet will be able to apply for a special parking permit allowing them to carry out works on private homes without the risk of being ticketed by wardens.

Under a scheme to be introduced in April, the new permits can be printed online and will be available on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis. Residents employing builders are currently required to issue visitor vouchers to avoid penalty charge notices.
