Man in critical condition in hospital after accident during lifting operation at Statton House site
A construction worker is in a critical condition after being trapped under a concrete skip in central London.
Police were called to Stratton Street, Piccadilly, at 12.15pm today following an accident during a lifting operation.
The site, Stratton House, is undergoing a commercial redevelopment to create office space and a penthouse residential unit.
Companies involved in the scheme include engineer Bridges Pound and property consultant Grafton Advisors.
The fire brigade, ambulance service and an emergency helicopter attended the scene.
The man, believed to be in his late 30s, suffered serious injuries and is being treated in hospital, according to the Health and Safety Executive.
