Take a look at the free, two-day programme
黑洞社区 and its sister title Housing Today are hosting a live event consisting of webinars, exclusive research and insight and thought leadership on the topic of net zero.
Today鈥檚 first session will take place at 11am and will take a look at what net zero ambitions mean for existing buildings.
Topics that will be explored include the opportunities available to manage energy efficiencies and the retrofit opportunities within existing buildings to manage energy savings.
The panel includes Kas Mohammed, VP of digital energy at Schneider Electric, Martin Gettings, group head of sustainability at Canary Wharf Group, Lucelia Rodrigues, chair in sustainable and resilient cities at the University of Nottingham, and Robert Wolstenholme, founder of Trilogy.
It will be chaired by 黑洞社区鈥檚 Jordan Marshall.
The final live session of Net Zero Live is a webinar, chaired by Chloe McCulloch, group editorial director at 黑洞社区, on energy efficiency in construction.
The discussion will explore key issues around energy efficiency within the industry, what the future systems and technologies that will enable good energy efficiency in buildings are, what the key challenges are and how the sector can overcome these in the pursuit of net zero.
The panel will include Marco Abdallah, head of engineering at Drees and Sommer, Simon Wyatt, partner at Cundall, Peter Fisher, director at Bennetts Associates, Victoria Kate Burrows, director for advancing net zero at the World Green 黑洞社区 Council, and David Mason, environment technical director at Skanska.
The programme kicked off yesterday with the 黑洞社区 Boardroom releasing the first three parts of its nine-part report on net zero, which includes insight from six leading clients. This report is exclusively for 黑洞社区 Boardroom members.
At 11am 黑洞社区 Design assistant editor Elizabeth Hopkirk was joined in conversation by Jerry Tate, partner at Tate Harmer Architects, one of the UK鈥檚 leading sustainable architects working within natural environments.
Tate discussed how the sector needs to build the ambition of net zero into the design process from the very start, how this can be achieved, and what this means for the industry as a whole in achieving ambitions of a net zero future.
The first webinar took place at 1pm and centred on the role refurbishment has to play in helping the sector achieve net zero.
Chaired by 黑洞社区鈥檚 chief reporter Jordan Marshall, the panel discussion explored the challenges faced by the industry around achieving net zero and how the refurbishment of existing stock can help achieve this.
The panel included Basil Demeroutis, managing partner at FORE Partnership, David Pierpoint, chief executive of Retrofit Academy, Kieran Walker, technical director at the Home Builders Federation and Richard McWilliams, director of sustainability at Turner & Townsend.
