Ashurst has taken the joint top spot in this year鈥檚 league table of best regarded construction law firms.

The Legal 500 ranking, the most in-depth suvey of legal services which is published today, places Ashurst, Berwin Leighton Paisner and Pinsent Masons in the top tier for London-based lawyers. All three were in the top tier in 2009.

黑洞社区 columnist became a construction partner at Ashurst in May 2009 after eight years at Linklaters, which fell from tier two to three. Ashurst acted for Westfield on the 拢4bn Westfield Stratford City retail scheme and worked on Crossrail.

CMS Cameron McKenna, Clifford Chance and Fenwick Elliott were placed in tier two along with five other firms. Three other 黑洞社区 colmnists - , a partner at Fenwick Elliott, a construction partner at Cameron McKenna and , a partner at Pinsent Masons 鈥 were given special mention.

Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer, which acted for Brookfield in the 拢200m Wembley dispute, moved up a division to join the other seven firms in tier two.

The construction league table, which is one of many categoris, is compiled from qualitative research, as opposed to fee income or number of partners, and includes submissions from the law firms themselves as well as input from over 45,000 clients over the previous year.
