PCKO-designed scheme for 170 homes in east London
Peabody has won planning approval for a 170-home estate in Plaistow, east London.
Newham council approved the PCKO-designed scheme at a development committee meeting this week.
The properties range from one bedroom flats to three bedroom houses, maisonettes, flats and duplex apartments and will aim to achieve code for sustainable homes level four.
Construction work will begin on the site in March with the new homes completing in 2015.
Claire Bennie, director of development at Peabody said: 鈥淎s part of Peabody鈥檚 150th anniversary celebrations we undertook an architectural competition for the Plaistow Hospital site and we are now delighted to see PCKO鈥檚 winning entry be approved by Newham.
Paul Webb, director of PCKO, said: 鈥淭he design has integrated new apartments and family housing with refurbished hospital buildings converted to residential use to create a coherent masterplan and architecture for the development.
