Active multi-service chilled beams from Trox have been installed in a six-storey office development in Cardiff to help cut energy use. The 3 Assembly Square development sits
opposite the National Assembly for Wales’ Senedd building. The multi-service chilled beams incorporate a lighting management system, including PIR sensors, to optimise
energy consumption by adjusting lighting in line with room occupancy and levels of natural sunlight.
As well as delivering cooled air, the beams also incorporate smoke detectors and emergency lighting.
The Trox DID600 multi-service chilled beams are manufactured with specially-designed side panels, developed in collaboration with Trox Design Bureau. The resulting “T” shape beams, and black perforated sidepanels, give the impression that the beams are “floating” in space.
