Galliford Try division Midas Homes wins contract to build 390 homes on industrial site in Camborne.
Midas Homes, Galliford Try's south-west housebuilding business, has won a contract to redevelop a 17-acre industrial site in Camborne, Cornwall.
English Partnerships and CPR Regeneration, Cornwall's urban regeneration company, have appointed the firm to build 390 homes on the former quarry site.
Around 25% of the homes are planned to be affordable and a further 15% reserved for first time buyers. The scheme will also incorporate light industrial and office space with work on site expected to commence in the summer of 2007.
Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: "The award of this project demonstrates the value of Galliford Try's affordable housing expertise and track record in working on mixed tenure urban regeneration schemes. We are delighted to be working with English Partnerships and CPR Regeneration to create high quality homes for the community in Camborne."
Steve Jackson, a spokesman for English Partnerships, said: "We want to create a high quality neighbourhood in Camborne that provides local people with well designed homes and helps to stimulate the town's economy. The award-winning team at Midas Homes shares our aims and has a proven track record of delivering schemes on this scale."
