Chris Loughlin will succeed Kieran Murphy as chair of housing specialist in May
Mears has announced the appointment of a new chair after the specialist housing contractor today said Kieran Murphy will stand down after more than four years in the role.
Chris Loughlin, senior independent director, will take over following the firm’s annual general meeting in May.
Loughlin joined Mears in September 2019 and previously served as chief executive of £600m-turnover water utility company Pennon Group.
The announcement came in a trading update today in which Mears also said it will deliver £950m of revenue and adjusted profit of £32m in the year to 31 December, which it added was above expectations.

It said the better-than-expected performance had been driven by ”continued elevated volumes within the Group’s Management-led contracts”.
Mears has been shortlisted for the £1.8bn, 15-year North Lanarkshire Future Integrated Housing Service contract and a £20m contract with the Ministry of Justice.
