Iam Properties demands nearly 拢400k from fast food chain for failing to keep property in good repair

A row between fast food restaurant chain McDonald鈥檚 and shop owners Iam Properties has boiled over into the High Court.

Iam Properties accuses McDonald鈥檚 of breaching the lease of premises in Golders Green Road, London NW11, and is demanding damages of 拢390,000.

McDonald鈥檚 took a twenty five and a half year lease of the premises from June 24 1981, but breached the lease by failing to keep the property in good repair, according to a High Court writ.

McDonald鈥檚 also failed to hand back the property in good and substantial repair and condition, to remove its trade fixtures and fittings, and failed to paint the inside, the writ claims.

Iam Properties, of High Street, Colliers Wood, London, says it has suffered losses totalling 拢390,000, including the cost of building work, preparing and serving a schedule of dilapidations, and loss of rent while work is carried out.

Now the company is seeking damages for breach of covenant.
