Successful appointees include key chief executives, consultant and professor

Leading figures in the construction sector were named in the Queen鈥檚 birthday honours list yesterday.

Terry Hill, chairman of Arup was named as a CBE 鈥渇or services to civil engineering鈥.

John McDonough, chief executive of Carillion, was given a CBE 鈥渇or services to the construction industry鈥.

Paul William Jowitt, president of the Institution of Civil Engineers and professor of Civil Engineering Systems at Herriot-Watt University was included 鈥渇or services to technology鈥.

Alan Baxter, partner at the consultancy Alan Baxter Structural Design, which worked on projects such as the refurbishment of the east wing of the National Gallery, was included in the list of CBEs 鈥渇or services to engineering and to conservation鈥.

Her Honour Frances Kirkham who is a judge at the Birmingham Technology an Construction Court and a door tenant (associate member) of Atkin Chambers also received a CBE.

And David Higgins, former chief executive of the Olympics Delivery Authority, was made a Knight 鈥渇or services to regeneration鈥.
