Contractor joins Kier and Balfour Beatty on the list
Laing O’Rourke has become the latest contractor to be named as a government strategic supplier.
The decision was confirmed at a meeting of the Cabinet Office’s commercial relationships board on 1 December.
It means the private contractor will work with an appointed crown representative as part of the government’s new approach to monitoring and managing strategic suppliers.
The crown representatives help the Government act as a single customer when engaging suppliers.
The firm joins Amey, Balfour Beatty, Interserve and Kier on , while Atkins, Jacobs and Mott MacDonald are also government suppliers.
Laing O’Rourke’s selection as a strategic supplier comes as the government finalises plans to transform investment in vital infrastructure, including the school rebuilding programme, the delivery of 40 new hospitals by 2030, new nuclear facilities and rail projects.
The firm works across all these areas and has experience with design for manufacture and assembly, another key focus for the government.
