Liam Cummins joined three years ago from Laing O鈥橰ourke
Kier鈥檚 construction boss Liam Cummins is leaving the business after three years, the firm has confirmed.
Staff were told this morning that Cummins, who joined from Laing O鈥橰ourke, would go by the end of the year.
An internal memo said that his next role would be as chief executive in a different sector of the industry but no further details have been released.
Cummins is being replaced as group managing director of construction by current group commercial director Stuart Togwell who joined Kier from Wates in summer 2019 after more than three decades at that business.
Kier chief executive Andrew Davies said: 鈥淪tuart鈥檚 wealth of experience in the construction sector, as well as his focus on operational and commercial excellence and his people-first approach, mean he is well-placed to lead our construction business.鈥
Cummins鈥 arrival three years ago was seen as a coup for the business which at the time was at the start of a restructuring initiative which eventually saw hundreds of jobs go, the firm sell off its housing arm and last summer complete a 拢241m equity raise.
Kier has since rebuilt its reputation and in London has recently pulled off a number of high-profile commercial wins including a debut job for Derwent, where it beat Sir Robert McAlpine to the Network 黑洞社区 over the summer, and its first job for Stanhope to build a 拢50m residential scheme at the former TV Centre in West London at the end of last year.
Kier chief executive Andrew Davies said: 鈥淚 would like to thank Liam for his hard work over the past three years. Liam has been an integral part of our leadership team and I wish him every success in the future.鈥
Kier鈥檚 construction business saw income slip 19% to 拢1.4bn in the 12 months to June this year and had an order book of 拢4.2bn.
