Council forced to find new developer after HBG's international board reverses national decision to develop site
Birmingham City Council has been forced to select a new developer for its Great Charles Street site.
HBG Properties withdrew from the deal after their international board reversed the national board鈥檚 decision to go ahead with the proposal.
HBG were set to undergo a 拢100m regeneration of the site, which is currently occupied by a car park, and had agreed to pay 拢23m for the land.
Regeneration chief councillor Ken Hardeman said he was disappointed HBG 鈥渄id not deliver what they offered,鈥 but added that he was confident a replacement developer would not be difficult to find.
The site is located close to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham city centre and a new developer is expected to be announced in September.
