Court action is over outstanding fees and alleged ventilation defects

Education secretary Michael Gove and London鈥檚 Westminster Academy are suing BDP for 拢3m over alleged defects.

The action has been launched over claims of faulty ventilation leading to stuffy classrooms at the Stirling prize-nominated building. BDP was the lead consultant on the project.

The academy accuses BDP of 鈥渘egligent breach of duty鈥 in the action lodged with the Technology and Construction Court, .

The Department of Education is also claiming that BDP was mistakenly overpaid.

BDP said: 鈥淲e can confirm that proceedings have been issued and served upon us and we are now fully aware of their contents.

鈥淭his dispute has arisen between BDP and the Academy in relation to outstanding fees and certain aspects of the project. We are currently liaising with other members of the design team and assembling our defence and are still optimistic that a speedy resolution can be found.
