Consultant cost advisor to the bid for the Big Lottery Fund鈥檚 Living Landmark programme
The Helix scheme has been awarded 拢25m in lottery funding. Consultant Gleeds was cost advisors to the bid for the Big Lottery Fund鈥檚 Living Landmark programme.
The Helix, a partnership made up of Falkirk Council, British Waterways and the Central Scotland Forest Trust, aims to transform the landscape between Falkirk and Grangemouth into a thriving environmental community.
The project was the only Scottish proposal to receive a lottery grant of this kind.
The scheme will provide a outdoor sustainable environment with 300 hectares of new greenspace, 34km of paths, cycle ways, water features, and woodland featuring 750,000 newly planted trees.
Steve Whitton, manger of Gleeds鈥 Scottish operation, said: 鈥淭he HELIX is an exciting and extremely bold scheme that with its successful Big Lottery Fund bid, will completely transform the whole area into a thriving community and put Falkirk and Grangemouth on the map as a great place to visit.鈥
Work is expected to start on site in 2008 over three phases, the major capital phase is expected to be completed by 2013.
