Contractor selected as preferred bidder on 拢24m redevelopment scheme, while also winning a place on HCA framework to build affordable housing

Gallifrod Try has been appointed preferred bidder on the 拢24m redevelopment of Edgbaston International cricket stadium.

The firm will undertake design and construction of a 8,250-seat stadium, which will replace an existing section of stadium with a capacity of just under 5,000.

The existing stadium will remain in use throughout construction.

Work on site is expected to start in March 2010 and completion is expected in July 2011.

Galliford Try has also been awarded a framework contract by the Homes and Communities Agency to deliver affordable housing.

The firm is one of six partners selected for the panel to operate across the UK in all three HCA regions.

It will deliver affordable housing for rent, shared ownership housing for sale, intermediate rent and speculative housing for sale.

The homes will be built across three government regions comprising North, Central and South.
