Daniel Cordier鈥檚 design for the Irish World Peforming Arts Village was partly inspired by the C茅il铆.
A French architect based in Kent has won the competition to design Irish World Performing Arts Village at the University of Limerick.
Daniel Cordier beat 93 other entries to win the competition to design the 拢7.6m Arts Village.
The Arts Village is due to open in 2007 and will include two workshop theatres, a research centre, 15 music practice rooms, 16 dance studios, 24 offices and a 100-seater cafeteria.
Cordier, who is based in the village of Horsmonden in Kent, said of his winning entry: 鈥淭he design concept accommodates both the practical and creative requirements of a community of artists, providing an atmosphere conducive to both inspiration and focus.鈥�
Seen from above, the design has a series of six roofs, which were inspired by the energy and character of the C茅il铆 dance.
