Consultant organises interactive student workshop in Nottingham to offer a taste of the profession
Consultant Faithful+Gould put Nottingham鈥檚 budding building surveyors and QSs through their paces last week as pupils from three local schools and colleges took part in an interactive workshop.
The sessions were designed to highlight career opportunities offered by the consultant and provide students with an overall understanding of areas such as building surveying, quantity surveying and cost and project management.
David Pick, director at the firm鈥檚 Nottingham office, said: "The purpose of the workshop was to introduce pupils of school-leaving age to the industry and give them a taste of what surveying and project management is all about."
The students, aged between 16 to 18, were identified by Nottingham City Council鈥檚 Gifted & Talented Strategy. They worked in groups to carry out practical tasks, manage their own projects and discuss and review their progress in an open forum.
Pick said: "We鈥檙e hoping to identify students who show a particular aptitude for the career disciplines covered by the workshop and who may want to expand on the skills they learn during the day.
"Those pupils may then qualify for professional training with Faithful+Gould via summer vacation schemes or sponsorship through a relevant degree course."
