The Kensington Oval in Barbados will open days before World Cup is due to being in April
Construction work on the cricket stadium set to host next year鈥檚 World Cup Final has been hit by further delays.
The 拢67m redevelopment of Kensington Oval in Barbados was originally due to be finished last December, but it has now been revealed that the projected completion date is early March. The venue is due to hold seven World Cup matches from 11 April, including the final.
A re-opening ceremony is still due to take place on February 17, when venue directors expect the project to be 鈥渟ubstantially complete鈥.
It is understood that the delays are due to problems with the roof work, which has fallen behind schedule.
Venue director Don Lockerbie told The Nation newspaper: 鈥淭here is no need to be fearful but we all appreciate there is still plenty to do鈥t鈥檚 not just a matter of building a structure, but we have to ensure that all is in place to operate and is fully functional.鈥
