Consultant brought in to replace rival on Bishopsgate Goods Yard regeneration project
EC Harris has been parachuted into the multimillion pound Bishopsgate Goods Yard regeneration project in the City of London after the removal of Davis Langdon.
It is understood that Davis Langdon left the project, developed by Hammerson and Ballymore Properties, after discussions over the scope of the work. It is believed the firm was only prepared to work on the office elements of the scheme, but the client wanted the same consultant to work across residential and infrastructure elements.
EC Harris will provide cost consultancy services on the 2.7m ft2 project, near Liverpool Street, which forms part of the wider Bishops Quarter site.
The development is based around a new station on the East London line extension, which will be completed in 2011.
It will involve office, retail and residential elements.
Construction work on the project is due to start in 2010.
The wider Bishops Quarter project is a 4.5 million ft2 mixed-use development.
Hammerson has already completed a series of developments in the area, including Bishops Square. Planning and delivery at Bishops Quarter will be phased over 10 years.
The first project will be Bishops Place, a 2.7 acre site north of Broadgate Tower, which includes the Northgate Tower project. Bishops Place is expected to start on site next year, and will have an estimated development cost of £700m. A planning application will be lodged later this year.
A Hammerson spokesperson confirmed that EC Harris had replaced Davis Langdon. Davis Langdon and EC Harris declined to comment.
