Crossrail London Rail Links reveals cost if rail route extended to Reading

A possible extension of Crossrail to Reading will cost an extra 拢372m.

In response to a written question by the House of Lords, Cross London Rail Links revealed that extension work on overhead line equipment, bridgeworks and track works will cost 拢275m.

Additional work on signalling and rolling stock will increase the bill by a further 拢97m.

At the beginning of the month, rail minister Tom Harris announced that a Crossrail extension to Reading was possible. The land needed for the route was being safeguarded in case there should be a case for business, Harris said.
