The government has made 拢294m available to help speed up the disposal of public land for development

The funding boost, detailed in the Autumn Statement, is part of a wider 拢574m of funding aimed at boosting local infrastructure and bringing forward housing development.

The funding includes:

  • 拢60m to support infrastructure in a limited number of enterprise zones
  • 拢225m of funding, announced by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg earlier this month, to unlock the development of stalled housing sites
  • 拢190m to be used to de-risk public land and enable the quicker disposal of surplus sites for new homes
  • 拢100m to help bring forward more public sector sites for development

The Department for Communities and Local Government said it was administering the new fund, with further details to be revealed shortly.
