Architect wins competition to design £55m mixed-use scheme on former Odeon cinema site
Architect Carey Jones has won a high profile competition to design a £55m mixed-use scheme for the former Bradford Odeon site.
The practice, in a team with developers Langtree Group and Artisan, beat a shortlist including architect Studio Egret West with developer Bioregional Quintain and architect Dyer with developer PPG Land.
The development will include a new public square as well as a 100-bedroom hotel, 205 apartments, offices and leisure and retail space.
The international design competition received 18 expressions of interest and the shortlist was announced in September 2005. The final decision was made by a panel including architect Glen Howells.
Work is expected to start on site during summer 2007 and is due for completion in 2009.
