Amey Lex consortium will provide plant and field mechanical handling equipment for 15 years.
A consortium led by Spanish-owned contractor Amey has won a 拢600m Ministry of Defence contract.
Amey will work with the defence fleet management and logistics division of the RAC on the 15-year PFI. Termed 鈥楥 Vehicle鈥, the programme will provide construction plant and field mechanical handling equipment. This includes cranes, dump trucks and bulldozers.
The Amey Lex consortium aims to cut the MoD鈥檚 fleet from more than 3,800 assets to around 2,000. As well as providing and maintaining assets, Amey will bring in new information systems and training.
Hamish Knox, managing director of Amey Lex, said: 鈥淲e have spent 16 months honing the service solution to integrate seamlessly with the MoD and to optimise the benefits that this PFI programme will deliver.鈥
