The 5000-seat National Indoor Sports Arena and 2000-seat cycling centre gets go-ahead
The 拢72m velodrome and stadium designed for the 2014 Commonwealth Games have been given the go-ahead by Glasgow city planners
Glasgow City Council today gave full planning permission to the 5000-capacity National Indoor Sports Arena (NISA) and 2000-seat cycling venue, designed by 3D Reid and Sports Concepts
The scheme also includes a community sports hall, offices, a caf茅, four outdoor sports pitches, car parking and an 1km outdoor cycling track.
Councillor Archie Graham, executive member for the Commonwealth Games, said: 鈥淕aining planning permission for the National Indoor Sports Arena and Velodrome means another major milestone in the Commonwealth Games journey has been reached.
鈥淣ISA will be a world-class building providing, not only a venue for some of the events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, but also superb community sports facilities and a lasting legacy for Glasgow and Scotland.鈥
