Business secretary says low energy industries will be at the heart of the British economy
Business secretary Lord Mandelson has announced a review of the construction industry to determine whether it can deliver low carbon buildings.
Mandelson said the review would assess the strengths and opportunities for the UK construction industry and 鈥渃onsider how the UK can be a world leader in this sector.鈥�
Atkins chief executive Keith Clarke will lead the review until the chief construction adviser takes over.
In August, Mandelson set out his vision for a UK economy, which included the creation of a low carbon, digital economy.
He said: 鈥淭he construction industry must now face the challenge of exploiting the advantages of the low-carbon economy.
鈥淚 am delighted that Keith Clarke has agreed to take this forward until the new chief construction advisor is appointed to lead this important work. I am impatient rapid progress.鈥�
