UK supplier of cladding and architectural panels Panel Systems now offers Trespa Meteon high-pressure laminate panels for a number of applications. These include rainscreen facade panels, spandrel panels and internal cladding. Panel Systems can offer bespoke shapes and engraving as well as a wide variety of colours, due to its in-house CAD service and CNC machining capabilities. Recent investment by the company into its CNC routing equipment has come as demand for Trespa Meteon has risen in both the educational and commercial sectors.

  • Curtain wall supplier Glassolutions has been accredited by the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS). The company has received the silver level accreditation for its investment in new vehicles and adherence to safety standards. To achieve the accreditation, the company had to be committed to driver training and stringent environmental performance management. The company says it is committed to efficient logistics both internally and efficient delivery to site.
  • Rainscreen manufacturer Cembrit plans to expand its UK operations. This includes a new headquarters at the Thames Innovation Centre in Erith, Kent. The building is a result of continued growth for the company in the UK market. Its cladding, building boards and corrugated sheets, as well as its natural and fibre cement slate, will be sold from three hub operations in Reading, Normanton and Llandow. The new headquarters and product hubs offer the company more efficient office space and allows it to showcase its full range.
  • Manufacturer of cladding gratings and louvre systems Lang & Fulton has launched its new website. The site will showcase the company鈥檚 full range of steel louvres and gratings and also serve as a source of inspiration and technical information for specifiers. The website displays past projects ranging from wall cladding, car parks, brises soleil, ventilation, screening, flooring and fencing. The site contains 58 different product pages, 3,000 gallery images, downloadable brochures, DWGs and NBS clauses.

Sun-Shading solutions

黑洞社区 envelope manufacturer Schueco UK has updated its sun-shading solutions. It has launched three new systems in the UK. The Schueco ALB system incorporates large louvre blades in a variety of different geometries, colours and arrangements. A second ALB system was released, featuring rectangular and parallelogram-shaped blades available in 250mm, 300mm or 400mm widths. The third new release employs C- and Z-shaped louvre blades. The company says all its new products are windproof and are designed to provide architects with creative flexibility.

Curved triangular facade solution
Trimo provided its Qbiss One facade solution to create a curved, triangular feature at HOME in Manchester city centre. HOME is a 拢25m, multidisciplinary art centre, designed by Mecanoo Architects. It contains a 500-seat theatre, five cinema screens, a gallery and studio space, cafe, bar and restaurant. The building鈥檚 key feature 鈥 its curved triangular shape 鈥 was designed by architect Ernstter Horst.

Cement cladding panels
Valcan has announced the launch of its natural-look cement cladding panels. Ceramapanel are 8mm or 12mm compressed fibre cement cladding panels that come finished in a natural stone or colour effect. They can be installed using Secret Fix, Adhesive Fix or Face Fit. The panels are low maintenance, durable, long lasting and non-combustible. They offer sound protection and are graffiti and impact resistant. The panels are also available in a Natural+ coated finish, which is an alkali-resistant varnish with a slight grain.

Facade paint
Facade and cladding paint manufacturer Sto provided its StoColor Dryonic facade paint for a large office development in Newcastle. Over time the building鈥檚 fa莽ades had become stained so in a bid to revitalise the building, StoPrim Fungal disinfectant and StoColor Dryonic facade paint was used. The paint was chosen for its 鈥渟tay clean鈥 performance. Micro-textures within the paint both repel water and channel it away to reduce the growth of microorganisms on the facade鈥檚 surface. StoColour Dyronic is available in a comprehensive range of colours.

Glass and steel facade
Lewisham Southwark College specified Proteus to supply a facade solution for its Waterloo campus. Proteus GL Black Painted Glass and Proteus HR Rimex Stainless Steel Cladding in Granex M1A were used for the entrance surround, rear elevation and stairwell cladding. The cladding is a nod to the vibrant learning spaces inside the building due to its saw-tooth design.

Ceramic granite cladding
Cladding manufacturer Shackerley has supplied its SureClad ceramic granite for a 拢335m hospital building for Royal University Liverpool hospital. A total of 34,337 pieces of ceramic granite were cut and calibrated for the project. This meant 24,491 panels and 8,242 corner sections. The project specification called for 14 different panel sizes which were configured in different ways across the facade. The finish selected was Travertine, similar to Portland stone, which complemented the surrounding buildings.

Curtain walling and doors
Curtain walling and doors provided by Kawneer feature on the new Nelson Health Centre. Kawneer鈥檚 AA庐100 zone-drained curtain walling systems, swing doors and 190 heavy-duty entrance doors were specified by architect Murphy Philipps. The 拢11m project in south London also included Kawneer multi-laminated glass fins. A replacement for the old Nelson Hospital, the three-storey development is rated BREEAM 鈥渆xcellent鈥.

Long-format bricks

Wienerberger has announced the launch of seven new long-format bricks to its Roman range. A response to the rising popularity of longer, thinner bricks, each of the new bricks are 400x100x40mm. The range now includes 10 products with sizes up to 510mm long. The bricks all have a waterstruck texture and come in a wide range of colours.
