Those who鈥檝e have muttered under their breath that certain people should be locked up have had their wish come true. Managing director of McCarthy & Stone Howard Phillips was banged up overnight with 18 business and community leaders at the new HMP Peterborough in a bid to raise money and awareness for Crimestoppers.
Philip found that the facilities afforded to those residing at Her Majesty鈥檚 please were not quite on a par with the executive luxury to which he is accustomed. 鈥淚t was a very narrow and hard mattress,鈥� he said. 鈥淲hat with the prison officers outside with squeaky shoes, I hardly got a wink of sleep.鈥� Bless his sparrow-foot print pyjamas weren鈥檛 fluffy enough.
