Residents of a Sussex street are being divided by one-sided plans to redevelop their road.
For once, it seems the north-south divide in property prices has fallen in favour of the northerners. But only on one street, in the decidedly southern enclave of Bexhill, East Sussex.
Residents on the north side of Chantry Avenue have been offered 拢400,000 for their properties - 拢100,000 above the market rate - by developer Thurleigh Homes, but the southsiders have been omitted from the deal.
Plans to demolish the 1930s houses and build over their 160-ft gardens are strongly opposed by residents, especially those who would be left on the southside of the avenue.
