Universities and employers do seem to be missing a trick when it comes to the use of construction students within the industry (18 January, page 52).

As Richard Devoy rightly points out, there seem to be too many students ending up in positions for a year simply 鈥渞elieving someone鈥檚 workload鈥 without really gaining positive experiences. This can only serve to put students off the prospect of jobs in the industry, and perpetuate employers鈥 views of the 鈥測ear out鈥 simply being a responsibility rather than an opportunity on their part.
