The item on the early publication of a report by the government on modern methods of construction (8 April, page 24) refers to a “kitemark” scheme that is to be developed for MMC.

The British Board of Agrément has been awarding certificates for “building schemes” – as we have called them – for more than 20 years. These certificates show how building systems comply with relevant ڶ Regulations and give information on their performance in relevant key areas, such as insulation and structural stability – everything a designer needs to know.

The BBA chief executive Peter Hewlett’s detailed paper on how the organisation sees the subject is available at www.bbacerts.co.uk/what’snew.
