It’s easy to portray Tamsin Omond as childish (27 March, page 42), but setting her against an ageing politician (whose age I noted wasn’t published) just doesn’t work

Lord Soley’s distinguished political career has given him the edge in dodging questions but not the vision to distinguish the vital issues in this debate.

The construction industry has a huge part to play in the battle to reduce emissions – the development of low-emission transport infrastructure, renewable energy generation and the refurbishment of our housing and commercial building stock will provide vitally needed employment opportunities. More than this, they will give the UK a chance to lead the way and it is this innovative leadership that will bring foreign investment to Britain, not another runway at an already terminally depressing airport.
