Now the transitional arrangements for 2006 Part L have been confirmed by the ODPM, the industry is in a much better position to address how it adopts these regulations.

All designers, developers and end users should understand where a building sits in relation to 2006 Part L.

Consider, for example, the fact that the UK is legally committed to the European Energy Performance of ºÚ¶´ÉçÇøs Directive, and in the near future all buildings will be issued with asset ratings and operational ratings. Therefore the energy efficiency of a building will become a key differentiator, especially against a backdrop of rising fuel prices. Assessing buildings for compliance with the 2006 Part L is much more straightforward than many believe and meeting these requirements could be a important factor throughout the life of any type of property.
