“Modernise or die”. Mark Farmer’s words struck a chord in 2016, and now? Well, he says he would probably revise the title of his report urging new working practices to: modernise and die, because all around us we are seeing both scenarios play out simultaneously in construction. On the one hand, technical advances in offsite solutions are boosting productivity on many projects, and yet the trail-blazing companies in this area are often struggling to find business models that stack up.
