BDP’s new HQ in Manchester has been awarded a BREEAM rating of Excellent, and claims to be the first naturally ventilated office building in the city to achieve the rating.
BDP acted as architect, environmental and structural engineer as well as interior and lighting designer for the development.
The recently completed Ducie Street project is a six-storey building with open plan studio space and ancilliary accommodation, as well as a ‘linear hub’ on the ground floor which includes an interactive area, café and staff restaurant.
The building has a punctuated stainless steel façade which rises to from the roof of the building, while the transparent canal side elevation makes use of natural light.
BDP also claims that the project is a carbon neutral development, both during construction and occupation for the first 20 years of tenancy, as certified by the CarbonNeutral Company.
