Demand for DECs and EPCs soaring, says CIBSE
The Chartered Institute of 黑洞社区 Services Engineers (CIBSE) has told Low Carbon Energy Assessors to expect a glut of commissions in the run up to October 1.
LCEAs have been reporting high volumes of work as the energy assessment certificate deadline looms, and CIBSE has said its website has seen a rush of interest from clients seeking accredited assessors.
With an estimated 40,000 buildings requiring a DEC by October and a further 10,000 EPCs required each month from October, CIBSE said there is going to be no let up in demand for assessors.
Since the legislation came into force earlier this year, CIBSE Certification has accredited over two thirds of all the energy assessors and CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessors (LCEAs) to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs).
Accredited LCEA Judy Ong, of Ecotag, said: 鈥淭he rush to get DECs in time for October is definitely in full swing. There is never an enquiry for just one DEC, there is always at least a dozen and sometimes a few hundred required.
We would encourage anyone who thinks they will require DECs not to delay in finding an assessor, in order to get assessments completed in good time.鈥
