Hanson Bath & Portland Stone is re-introducing Box Ground stone after a break of 60 years

Box Ground is durable natural limestone that was extensively used in the 19th century as a building stone. The quarry closed in the 1950’s as supplies were exhausted. Hanson Bath & Portland Stone discovered a new seam of Box Ground just 200m from the original quarry. The stone is mined underground and the company has now built up a stockpile of over 100m4. The stone is available in block format and is suitable for repairing and restoring historic buildings or new build where a match with existing stone is required. A floor tile option is also available.
