William Hare buys Eiffel out of administration, saving 60 jobs
William Hare has bought fellow steel specialist Eiffel out of administration, saving 60 jobs at Wigan-based Eiffel.
The deal helps secure supply of steel to one of William Hare鈥檚 biggest jobs - the transformation of London鈥檚 Olympic Stadium into a home for West Ham United football club - where Eiffel is a steelwork supplier.
Eiffel鈥檚 administrators Smith and Williamson confirmed the sale today, after the firm was placed into administration in mid-November.
Eiffel produces up 10,000 tonnes of fabricated steel a year from a workshop in Ince, near Wigan.
It was originally established in 1986 as Horwich Steelworks at the Horwich Locomotive Industrial Estate.
Matthew Dunham, Manchester-based partner at Eiffel鈥檚 administrators Smth and Williamson, said: 鈥淭he decision to keep trading and so maintain the order book has made the business more attractive to potential buyers. We received interest from a number of parties and are delighted to have achieved this sale.鈥�
Adam Stephens, joint administrator, said: 鈥淭his is excellent news for the employees who have remained supportive and proved themselves to be loyal to the company during the uncertainties of recent weeks.鈥�
