Consultant will provide planning and building control services for council in Norfolk
Consultant Capita Symonds has signed a deal with Breckland Council in Norfolk to provide planning and building control services to the authority.
The contract is valued at around 拢40m and is expected to generate 拢4m in savings to the council over the course of the partnership.

The scheme involves the transfer of some 50 of Breckland Council鈥檚 planning and building control staff to Capita, creating a new operation of services that will be based at the council鈥檚 offices at East Dereham, Norfolk.
Tim Leader, deputy chief executive of Breckland Council, said: 鈥淥ur planning and building control departments have a reputation for delivering an efficient and professional service.
鈥淭he staff within these teams will be transferred to Capita Symonds under a TUPE agreement. This gives Capita Symonds a wealth of expertise to utilise whilst they make further enhancements, create efficiencies and increase earning potential.鈥
Capita Symonds also plans to expand the new business by using it as a hub to offer planning and building control services to other local authorities across East Anglia and the South East of England.
The consultant is currently providing flexible planning support and expertise to approximately 45 local authorities across the UK.
The 15 year contract will commence on 29 June.
