Consultant engineer spends £22.8m on two acquisitions

WSP has bought Chas H Sells, a US transport and infrastructure , and CBP Consulting AG, a German engineering and group.

It acquired Chas H Sells for a total cash consideration of about £10m, which posted a pre-tax profit of £1.5m in its financial results for the year ended 30 June. Sells has 250 staff and eight offices in the USA. It is currently working on a number of major infrastructure projects in New York City.

It spent £12.8m on CBP, which had a pre-tax profit of £1.7m for the year ended 31 December 2006.CBP employes 270 staff and has headquarters in Munich.

Chris Cole, WSP's chief executive officer, said: " We are very please to have completed these transactions which continue our strategy of diversification."
