Contractor spells out plans for next 20 years
Willmott Dixon wants to see zero carbon emissions in its own operations by 2030 and its supply chain partners by 2040.
The firm has announced a new series of targets it says will be among the toughest in the industry.
Willmott Dixon鈥檚 chief sustainability officer Julia Barrett said all of the firm鈥檚 projects would be measured from the beginning of next year to make sure they are hitting emissions targets.
She said the firm鈥檚 supply chain was backing the plan and added: 鈥淚t鈥檚 about understanding the products, so they need to help us understand where they have come, from what their embodied carbon content is, right from when they were starting to be created.鈥
The firm said it is looking to only use suppliers that are operating at a level of net zero carbon by 2040. Its 鈥楴ow or Never鈥 strategy also includes plans to plant 100,000 trees over the next decade.
