拢30m building for Liverpool council to service ship visitors

Wates has been appointed to build a 拢30m four-star hotel for Liverpool city council as part of a 拢5bn plan to develop derelict dockland.

The 200-bedroom hotel (pictured) will sit next to the 拢50m cruise terminal being built by Belfast contractor McLaughlin and Harvey on the banks of the river Mersey. When complete the terminal will accommodate the world鈥檚 largest cruise ships.

The waterfront regeneration scheme, known as Liverpool Waters, sees the council working with Peel Land and Property 鈥 the developer behind Manchester鈥檚 MediaCityUK and Liverpool鈥檚 John Lennon Airport.

The council鈥檚 design team is being led by Ramboll.

Wates was selected for the job via Major Works UK, part of Scape鈥檚 National Construction framework, and will start work in 2019 subject to planning permission.
