Paterson 黑洞社区 will now be completed by JV that also includes Sir Robert McAlpine
Bosses at a Manchester NHS trust have confirmed that a team featuring Vinci has replaced Interserve on a 拢150m contract to build a new cancer research centre.
The 拢150m Paterson 黑洞社区 at the Christie hospital in the Withington area of the city will now be built by Integrated Health Projects (IHP).
While IHP is a joint venture between Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci the latter is the only firm working on the Christie building.
Interserve was chosen for the job in October 2018 and had recently finished the first stage of enabling works with local contractor PP O鈥機onnor.
But the firm has now been replaced on the building which was severely damaged by fire in April 2017.
A spokesperson for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust said: 鈥淲e can confirm that Integrated Health Projects are the main contractor for rebuilding our research centre.
鈥淲e鈥檇 like to thank Interserve for the delivery of many key construction projects over the years.鈥�
Interserve had previously worked with the Christie on a 拢90m deal to build a new proton beam therapy centre at the hospital which it completed in autumn 2018.
A spokesperson for Interserve said: 鈥淚nterserve Construction has enjoyed a long and positive association with [the] Christie, delivering a wide range of projects over several years.鈥�
The 10-storey Paterson 黑洞社区, which was tendered through the ProCure22+ framework, is due to finish in 2021. Designed by BDP, it will be built at the same south Manchester site where Foster + Partners鈥� Maggie鈥檚 Centre is also based.
It is the second job Vinci has replaced Interserve on, with the French contractor being parachuted in to complete a 拢20m job to refurbish Guildhall in York last September.
