Consultant posts its first results since floating on AIM

Consultant Baqus has posted a 16% jump in turnover to 拢3.7m in its first results since it floated on AIM last December.

In the six months to 31 December 2007, its pro-forma pre-tax profit rose 878% from 拢45,000 to 拢440,000.

Chairman Roger Knowles said the three companies that comprise Baqus (Boxall Sayer, Fletcher McNeill and Denley King) were performing well, particularly in the budget hotel and education sectors.

He also said the credit squeeze meant it was a good time to buy companies at 鈥渁ttractive prices鈥 and that the group was in talks with two firms about a takeover.

The group has 拢1.8m in the bank to spend and the order book stands at 拢10.1m
