拢14.7m development is Shepherd Construction鈥檚 third project for the University
Shepherd Construction has completed work on Loughborough University鈥檚 拢14.7m Design School.
The 7,760 sq m development, designed by Burwell Deakins Architects, includes teaching and lecture spaces, research laboratories, workshops, computer suites, offices and a caf茅.
The building has a concrete frame and exposed concrete walls and floors, suited to workshops which will house heavy machinery.
The south-facing slopes of the roof are also built from concrete, with saw-tooth angled sections clad in zinc aluminium to match the rest of the fa莽ade.
As well as providing good thermal stability, the concrete saw tooth roof allows a high quality of light into the interior without any glare, according to Shepherd Construction.
