Consultant is the biggest winner in the latest round of contracts awarded on 拢16bn London projects
Consultant Scott Wilson has emerged as the big winner from the latest round of contracts awarded by Crossrail to help design the 脜铆16bn London rail scheme.
Scott Wilson picked up two of the four contracts awarded today, for the design of Farringdon Station and the design of the tunnel entrance at Pudding Mill Lane in the east of the city.
Engineer Atkins will carry out architectural component design, and Mott MacDonald will do the tunnels, shaft aerodynamics and ventilation.
The awards follow the naming last month of Arup, Capita Symonds and Mott MacDonald to undertake the first four design contracts. In total there are 12 firms on the design framework. Aedas Group, BDP, Halcrow Group, Hyder Consulting (UK), Jacobs Engineering UK, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and WSP UK, are all yet to receive any design commissions.
Graham Plant, programme director at Crossrail, said the awards meant the Crossrail programme was now firmly within the detailed design phase. He said: 脜gWe look forward to working closely with all the successful companies in driving forward the design process in advance of main construction works beginning in 2010."
