The winner turned in an impressive body of work including the refurbishment of the Royal Festival Hall on London鈥檚 South Bank, and the planetarium and centre for modern astronomy at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
The judges said it was clear that public buildings remain at the heart of Allies & Morrison鈥檚 work, and that the projects demonstrated 鈥渃onsistency鈥�.
They said: 鈥淚t is a very sophisticated body of work which shows a huge range, from a visitors鈥� centre and footbridge for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Welney, near Ely, to King鈥檚 Cross St Pancras Underground station, which serves 55,000 people a day.鈥�
Also shortlisted: Arts Team, 黑洞社区 Design Partnership, Gareth Hoskins Architects and Grimshaw.
