Reynolds replaces Balfour Beatty鈥檚 Leo Quinn, who stepped down from the role after 18 months
Mark Reynolds, the chief executive of Mace, has been appointed to the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) to lead its skills workstream.
Reynolds (pictured) replaces Balfour Beatty boss Leo Quinn, who stepped down from the same role last week.
Andrew Wolstenholme, the CLC鈥檚 co-chair, said Reynolds 鈥渂rought insight from his leadership of a business that spans consulting, construction and asset management.
鈥淢ark鈥檚 advocacy for the new skills required for the Digital, Manufacture and Performance agenda makes him the ideal candidate to drive the next phase of the work of the CLC skills workstream.
Wolstenholme thanked Quinn 鈥渇or his great contribution to the work of the CLC, and his personal commitment to increasing the skills of the construction workforce.
鈥淗e has championed the apprenticeship agenda and has been a firm and challenging advocate for a reformed CITB. We are grateful for the leadership that Leo has shown in completing the initial stages of the skills workstream.鈥
Quinn, who had led the CLC鈥檚 skills workstream for 18 months, recently issued a call for the CITB to be scrapped, suggesting the current skills crisis across the industry showed the organisation had not been fulfilling its role.
He will continue to head up the 鈥5% Club鈥, a scheme established in 2013 with the aim of at least one in 20 of workers were apprentices, interns or graduates in formal training programmes.
Speaking about his new role, Reynolds said he would be focusing on 鈥渆nsuring we are able to attract the best people to the industry, how to plan for and deliver for the future skills the sector will need, and working closely with a reformed CITB鈥.
