The man chosen last week to head Liverpool’s regeneration and inward investment agency is likely to last only a year in the post, ڶ can reveal.

Jim Gill, chief executive of city centre regeneration body Liverpool Vision, was picked to head the new expanded agency, also called Liverpool Vision.

Gill, 59, said: “The point I’ve got to in my life I’m not going to be here in five years, but I’ll be here for at least a year. The council may have to think about succession in 12 months, but hopefully by then they’ll be in a stronger position to do that.”

The appointment has been dubbed a “failure of recruitment” by opposition councillors.

Joe Anderson, leader of the opposition Labour group, said: “Jim can provide stability, but clearly this is a failure to get the man they wanted.”
